How to Record Streaming Videos

AUTHOR: Jim Evans

Record Streaming Video

Have you seen a video online and wished you could record it for later playback only to find out that you cant? There are ways to Record Streaming Videos but you have to know where to look and which products are the best to try. There are programs on the market that will do the job for you. Some of these programs are free while others have a small fee for some great extras.

The first program is the WM Recorder 11. It uses Windows Media Player, Real Video and Quick Time and can capture HTTP, RTSP, and MMS. It also has Record Resume, Password protected streams recording, works on Windows and is $49.95. The Replay AV does all of these as well and is the same price. The HI Download 6.x Pro has the same capabilities and features but cost $10.00 less at $39.95. These are just some of the paid Record Streaming Videos products out there.

There are a few Free ones but with these you lose some of the nicer features such as recording password protected streams, the ability to use Real Video and Quick Time, and a couple do not work with Windows Media Player. Knowing which free one to try will be determined by what you want it to do, and what Operating System you have. You can try StreamBox VCR Suite 2.0, Real7ime Converter, VOD Recorder, SDP Receiver, and Hi-Net Recorder 0.95beta. These free programs offer more than some of the others.

Depending on the Recorder you choose, there are different instructions and you will have to look and see which is the best for you. Record Streaming Video gives you the freedom to choose what you want to watch and when. Unfortunately, you cannot simply click on the video and hit save. So you have to use various programs to do the job.

Earlier, we mentioned a couple of the Paid Versions and one of the top choices is the Replay A/V when it comes to Recording Streaming Videos. Replay is $49.90 and allows you to record almost any video on the Internet. It can also record iTunes Radio Stations with compatible MP3 streams, and WMA and WMV or Windows Media Audio and Video in HTTP, MMS, and RTSP. It also works on Sirius and XM Online Radio, Flash Video HTTP/.FLV and Flash HTTP/.SWF, Nullsoft Video Streams on AOL, and SlingBox Streaming Videos.

HiDownload 6.x is next on the list with many of the features of Replay A/V but also has some other nice features such as Browser integration, Disallowed characters are removed from filename, Download categories, Flexible batch job methods to download multiple files, HTTP/FTP/SOCKS proxy management, Live Broadcast Manager, Record SHOUTcast showcase, Save flash animations, Search mp3, and Zip Extract, Zip Preview.

As you can see, the list is steadily growing for ways you can Record Streaming Videos. You simply need to decide which is the best for you and your budget. One thing to remember - all of the paid versions have ways you can try them for free for a period of days, so do not let the cost deter you right now.
